Fitzroy Crossing 6th July to Broome 15th July

We stayed here in a nice caravan park Fitzroy crossing
But the main office and the amenity blokes were all built up high.

We were told this is because of in the wet season they get flooded.
So you clime the stairs or climb the hill like me.

 They have some lovely Boab Trees.
So could go past having a photo taken with one of them.

We all went for a ride down the town very small.
We went to have a look at a man making lovely jewelry from glass.
But they have a great super market

We all went for a ride to a place called
The Crossing Inn
It used to be a Pub. But they have made Fitzroy Crossing
an  alcohol free town since 2008.
And is working very well. they say they lost 30 percent of the people
by doing this.But they say the rest are all doing fine.

Any way this old Pub has now become an
Museum of Local Indigenous Art.
 Also a place in witch they paint carve
and make other things to sell to help there own people.

This is an Boab seed That has been hand carved.
I brought myself. just love it

We arrived in Derby Western Australia  on the 11th July.

Stayed for 3 nights. We had my  favorite tree right across from us.

In Derby They have planter Boab trees right down the center of the road.
they say that if they want to build a new road and a Boab tree was in the way.
They will build the road around it as it has became the town symbol.

The main street in to town.

 We went down to the pier to have a look see.

It was a good walk right around the pier.

lots of mangroves near the shore

Pat is standing having a talk with an Aboriginals man. That is doing some fishing.

Ronnie and Arnold having a talk

Pat is having a talk to Adam on the phone.

After walking back to the car Ronnie call out to come see the big fish this young boy caught.
His name is Royce Dylan and caught this big Barra on a hand line in the mangroves
He was so pleased with him self.

This is the last photo of Derby with the tide out.
Derby has the highest tide in Australia

As we were leaving Derby we called it to have a look at the oldest Boab tree.
They say it is about 1.500 years old

Early in the years of the white man coming Australia and  into  this part of the would.
They used this tree as a jail because of its hollow inside.

The would put the Aboriginal men in side then leave a guard to keep watch.

A termite hill. There are so meany of them up here in the Kimberly s

Our Trip To The Bungle Bungles
Witch is in the Purnululu  National park
Western Australia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July the 2nd  to  6th  July - 10.40 am
We arrived early To the entrance  of the National park.
 As we have a long rough track to go on.
We parked our caravans in a Caravan park as it is safer to do this.
After leaving the vans we started making our way down very dusty track.
With so much  corrugation. We just drove  slowly.
 It finished taking us two & half hours to get to our camp site.
Ronnie opening  the  gate for us to the entrance to the National Park.
Our camp site is  right next to a big dry river bed.
Pat and I Finely got our tent up.
But come night time we did not expect the night to get so cold.
In this photo it is only about 6.30 pm and trying to keep warm.
By 7 pm  we all said good night and went to our tents.
 But even in bed we were still cold. So I went to bed in my dressing gown.
Next Day we took of from camp to see the Bungle Bungles.
I stayed in the car park. As was told would be to rough for me .
There was nice shaded places to sit under.
Pat Ronnie Arnold and Ronnie's Sister Rose.
Started there walk into the Bungles. Witch will be about 1 hour and 49 min.
Pat has his Fleece Blue shirt tied around his waist.
They walk to see a place called the cathedral.
With looks so lovely.
They all said it was so peaceful in there.and the sand was so white .
The next day we drove about 30 ks to the place called Echidna Gorge
The drive there was very lovely scenery.
 But still rotten roads.
The parking place was well shaded. With beautiful scenery to look at.
While they go on there second long walk into the Gorge.
Car parking place.
Osmand lookout on the walk to the Gorge
 Walking to the gorge. Arnold and Pat
Having a rest under the palms. as they said it is hard walking on the big rocks.
Pat at the back and Ronnie in the front.
 After pat came back he took a photo of me at the beginning
of the walk.
Know for the ride back to our Caravans
 on the worst roads so far on our travails.
Ronnie took some photos of us  from her rear vision mirror.
We had a few creeks to cross. so the wheels had a wash.
We arrived back to our vans. and was glad to see they were all ok.
By the time we hooked up and then topped up with water in the tanks.
It was nearly 5.30 pm so we took of to a free camp site for the night.
Just a few ks down the road. We stayed the next day to just rest.
The next day 5 July we went to a free camp called  Mary River or Mary pond.
you have to cross an old road with was once a water crossing.
You just go find a place to park and make a cupper tea or coffee.
Ronnie and Rose went for a wander down on the river bed to photograph some birds.
We all went for a walk to take some photos of the river.
 Not much of it left but had a few birds still there and even a pelican having a swim.
