5 May Daly Waters to Mataranka Thermal Pools 6th. till the 9th. May
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At three way were we stopped for fuel we saw a road train tanker
the first of many to see I think.
  5th.  May - We made our way to Daly Waters by 1.30.pm were there is an old Aussie pub.
Just had to show you the Daly water sign.
It is in the back part of the pub they have - thongs hanging from the posts.
This our tour guide Ronnie we would be lost with out her.
Inside the pub wow it has the lot.
Around the bar are - cards that people have put there.
 Over the bar they have lots of - bra hanging
some of them have the owners names on them.
 On the other side we have - undies - we just hope they all clean when given.
They also have - money nailed up hats and different coins.
The bar were you can see the money pined up.
A photo of Eddy the fellow that takes you to your camp site and makes shore you are ok.
 He is a scotch man and has the job of riding around on his bike with a
 stuffed horse hanging over the handle bars.
 We did not no if it was the horse or Eddy but he needed a shower.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We left the next day the( 6 May). staying till the 9th May.
As we were going to Mataranka the same day at.11.21.am  they have Thermal Pools here.
On arriving we had two great caravan spots.
Ronnie said come on get your swimming togs on and lets go.

Ready for our swim it is so lovely. Just walking through  the palms and so cool.

Pat is carrying the heavy floties for Ronnie he is so kind.

The water is a constant 34 Celsius and flows from under the earth just up the river a bit.
 The crystal clear mineral water flows out  at 30.5 million every day.
  So just flouting is hard to to do as you are being taken down the pool with the current.
 But so hard to get out we stayed in for a long time.
The next day we could not wait to go to the spring in the morning till lunch time.
 Then back again in the after noon.
It was never crowded just a few people there.  Some had a talk to you but we had so much fun

This is a  photo I took a bit of a funny color but you can see how it is
will put some more of us at the pool later
thank you for looking
by for now Maureen and Pat xx
To our little Riley family xxxx lots of love

29th April we arrived in Mt Isa till 2nd. May

29th April we arrived in Mt Isa at 12.30.pm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are staying here  for 3 days as we have to do some shopping.
Plus Pat has booked the van in to have 4 new Tyre.
So while I am in Mt Isa  I decided to have a hair cut.  So found a very good hair dresses.
Well this my result.
It is taking me some time to get used to the hair cut but still have some perm in it.
The caravan park is not bad but have had better.
Anyway the day we leave on the 2nd May with caravan in tow at 8.40am to go get the new wheels on then meet up with Ronnie and Arnold to head out of town.
So when the man took the wheel of my side of van.   Pat could see we have a broken leaf spring.
  Pat ask were to go to get another spring leaf.
 After they had  finished putting all 4 wheels back on.
By this time it is 10.15am so we rang Arnold to tell him the news,
 Pat and I set of to find the place a place we were sent to  but it was a no go.
 So we just kept  driving around till we found a man that  has  his own furnace.
  He will  do the job and  make a copy of the old.
  By now it is 12 am
So  while the spring was being done we went to the pub for lunch witch  was
very good more than we could eat.
Then went to the look out over the town of Mt Isa.
 By 4. pm we went back to the van and all fixed very good.
But boy they certainly see the tourist coming and rub there hands together.
  At last we are on our way out of Mt Isa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We drove a few k’s up the road to a free camp site and meet with some other Travel’s.

We all had a good laugh and plenty of talking.

We stayed at a 3 more  free camp site. But the last night 4th May when Ronnie made so doughnuts.

26th April - Normanton & Karumba QLD to 28th.

We finely made it to Normanton 26th.April stayed till 28th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 As we drove into Normanton  both Pat and I was a bit surprised to find it is only a small town and only a few shops here.  They all seemed to be on one street the local store
 witch is an IGA food store witch is.
  Also the hardware and fishing store but out side it is all bordered up and ion frames on the windows. Sorry to say but they have to do this even a lot of the houses have the same on there windows as well,  Any way we stayed two nights in a caravan park .
On the 27th Aril Pat Ronnie and Arnold went into see the old train station at Normanton.
 Were they have restored the old Gulf-lander train.
The station has been made into a small museum I sat is the car.
                           After this we drove up to Karumba about an hours drive from Normanton.
 It is called the gulf were we found a nice place to sit for a while at Sunset Point.
 At Sunset Tavern we just enjoyed sitting there to watch all that was going on  have a drink.
But as we were leaving we all decided to have some Barramundi and Chips to take back for dinner. But we  had to have an ice cream first Pat and myself it had to be a Magnum and being very warm there it tasted so good. But had to stop and take a photo of the towns big  Crays the Croc.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next morning we were ready to get going to our next stop. A free camp site.
  Pat and myself were at Ronnie and Arnold's van I was sitting just inside the door and we were discussing the ant problem we were both having.
So Ronnie thought she would get the Mortein and spray under the fridge.
  Of course the fridge was still running on gas and it ignited the propellant.
 A flame shot out and frightened the life out of both of us.
 As you could feel the flame and heat from it.  I started to get upset with fright.
 As we thought it was going to burn the van down.
 Poor Pat ran to our van to get a fire extinguisher leaving his thongs behind.
 When he came back his feet were covered in (three corner jacks) or bindy biers .
  We felt so bad for him.  Ronnie grabbed her extinguisher
 also and was standing there as poor Ronnie did not know  how to use it.  (she do's  now!!)
  Luckily the flame was short lived as Arnold said it would be.
 He checked the fridge cavity just in case though to ease my mind.
But poor pat just sat down picking  the prickles out of his feet but cant say what he was saying ,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next part is driving to Mt Isa  about  60.ks from here.
  So by for now hope you all enjoy
  forgive my mistakes xx  Maureen and Pat.
Next morning being the 22nd April we were of to the next stop witch is Mount Surprise.
But going in to this camp site was very roughest road.  As it had a lot of corrugation.
The boys said if they had any idea it was going to be this bad .
They would have not have gone on but they did.
So here we are at O’Brian’s camp  Mount Surprise 23rd. April for 2 nights.
The two men always have to find something to do so just checking Pat solo panels.
